Biography
Brenna McDonald is a flamenco guitarist and dancer based in Portland, OR. She is the Co-Founder of Espacio Flamenco where she teaches flamenco dance, guitar, and kids classes and is the Musical Director of Espacio Flamenco’s performance company. Brenna works to foster a supportive flamenco community where musicians and dancers can learn, share, and celebrate this beautiful art form.
Her passion for flamenco drew her to study flamenco guitar and dance from the age of 12 years old. Her first teachers were Martita Santiago and Jaime Woods in Eugene, OR. Her pursuit of learning took her to Spain to study with maestros Chiqui de Jerez, Jose Luis Balao, Parrilla de Jerez, and Juan de los Reyes. In 2012 Brenna began her studies with guitar teacher Calvin Hazen. A lifelong student, Brenna continues to learn from her fellow teachers and students at Espacio Flamenco and from flamenco artists worldwide.
