Fandangos (Beginning)

This Beginning Level class is appropriate for beginners with previous flamenco dance experience, returning beginners who have taken one or more sessions of “Introduction to Flamenco Dance,” and for dancers who would like to learn or spend more time with twelve count rhythm fundamentals and/or the 2nd Sevillanas. 

In the Spring Session the Beginning class will continue learning about flamenco’s 12 count rhythms exploring the beautiful palo Fandangos de Huelva. We’ll learn the basics of counting, accents, and palmas in twelve beats as well as marcajes for twelve count palos. Dancers will start learning a short choreography por Fandangos to present at the student showcase June 6th. The last 15 minutes of class is dedicated to Sevillanas.

11 weeks: 3/31, 4/7, 4/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 5/26, 6/2, 6/9 *Class 6/9 is 7:30-8:30pm Bulerias with Juan Paredes
