About the Class
Palmas or rhythmic hand clapping is the percussion instrument of flamenco that is integral to any student of flamenco. We will start with the basic techniques of playing palmas with your foot, and finding our palmas tone. Using exercises and games we will develop our bulerías, tangos and contras palmas. We will also learn the essential accompaniment patterns for 4 or 8 count bailes (tientos, tarantos, etc.) and 12 count bailes (cantiñas, caña, soleá por bulerías, etc.) and practice accompanying them in class with live guitar and singing. If you are studying dance, singing or guitar, this fun class will develop your rhythm and deepen your command in any of those disciplines.

*No class 10/26 - we'll meet on Tuesday, 10/27 from 8:00-9:00pm for a special master class with artists from La Velada.
