About the Class
This fall, our returning beginning students will continue their flamenco journey with the lively four-count palo Garrotín. Traditionally danced with a sombrero cordobés, Garrotín is playful and theatrical and features exciting tempo changes. The class will begin with technique exercises to continue strengthening essential flamenco technique, including posture, braceo (arm work), footwork, palmas (hand clapping), and rhythm patterns that will deepen your understanding of flamenco. We'll also reserve the last 10-15 minutes of each class to continue developing our Sevillanas. Sombrero Cordobés is included in the cost of tuition.
Our Beginning Level classes are designed for students with previous flamenco dance experience, returning beginners who have taken one or more sessions of “Introduction to Flamenco Dance,” and for dancers who would like to learn or spend more time with basic flamenco technique and the 1st Sevillanas.
