About the Class
This class is the singing counterpart to the Cantiñas w/ Fan (Int./Advanced) dance class that happens right before this one. This fun and festive palo (song form) from Cádiz is a large family of styles that are in the major key and have a 12 count meter. Including Alegrías, Romeras, Mirabrás, Cantiña de la contrabandista, and others, these cantes all share the flavors of Cádiz.
We will learn the basic compás and palmas for this palo, and learn to sing a few different styles that can be sung as a cante solo or for dance. This class is open to all levels and these are moderately challenging styles to sing. Students will have the opportunity to sing at the student showcase in the summer of 2027.

*No regular class 10/27, we'll meet from 7:00-8:00pm for a special master class with artists from La Velada.
