Tarantos (Intermediate)

This is a twice a week class (Monday/Wednesday): 

• On Mondays class is 7pm - 8:30pm with mixed level footwork technique 7:00-7:30pm, and Tarantos Technique and Choreography 7:30-8:30pm. 

• On Wednesdays class is Tarantos Technique and Choreography from 7:30-8:30pm. 

• Students signed up for class twice a week receive a discount on tuition.

• Int./Advanced level dancers are welcome to sign up for class once a week and can use the second weekly class as a make up class.  

• Live guitar accompaniment (depending on availability) is included with the tuition. 

This Fall, our Intermediate level dance class will begin learning choreography por Tarantos, one of flamenco’s cante jondo (deep song) styles. Developed as a danceable form by legendary artist Carmen Amaya, Tarantos offers an opportunity to explore grounded, slow, and expressive movement while developing confidence dancing in four-count phrasing. 

Intermediate level dancers have previous experience learning full length solo choreographies (Alegrias, Solea por Bulerias, etc.), know all four sevillanas choreographies, and are able to practice at home and/or attend class twice a week. Recommended: four or more years previous flamenco experience. 

Mondays 7:00pm - 8:30pm: 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30, 12/7

Wednesdays 7:30pm - 8:30pm: 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9

*No classes 10/26 & 10/28 - we'll meet on Tuesday, 10/27 from 7:00-9:00pm for special master classes with artists from La Velada.

Cost: 

A 3% processing fee will be applied to online payments.
