Espacio Flamenco PDX presents Alma Flamenca - The Soul of Flamenco. An evening of live dance, music, and song inspired by the intimate energy of Spanish tablaos and the deep connection between performers and the audience.
Joining Espacio Flamenco is guest dancer Kayla Lyall, principal dancer and assistant artistic director of Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company, a leading flamenco institution based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

About Kayla Lyall:
Kayla Lyall began dancing as a child in Albuquerque, New Mexico, studying under Eva Encinias. A two-time winner of the Concurso Nacional del Flamenco (2005, 2011), she furthered her studies in Sevilla in 2008.A board-certified educator, Kayla has taught at the National Institute of Flamenco since 2005, where she continues to teach all ages and co-directs and choreographs for the institute’s pre-professional training company. From 2011–2022, she established a flamenco-focused program at Tierra Adentro of New Mexico, training high school students in flamenco dance.Kayla performs nationally and internationally with Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company, where she is currently a principal dancer and assistant artistic director. She is a regular performer at Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque and has collaborated with world-renowned flamenco artists and choreographers. Kayla is currently pursuing her MFA in Flamenco at the University of New Mexico and recently premiered her solo work NUDE, which will be presented at the Festival Flamenco Internacional de Albuquerque in 2026.
